Frozen | PART ONE - Pompeii, Italy

Hello peeps!

Believe it or not, I'm here to blog about my trip to the Southern part of Italy from early this year. I've been meaning to share my experience for the longest time but haven't got around to doing it. I'll separate the post into a few parts since it was a 10D7Ns trip.

So, on February 14th, my aunt, cousin and I set out to KLIA to catch our Valentine's Day flight! I can't exactly recall our flight time but it was in the evening. After meeting up with my aunt's friend and daughter, checking-in and a lot of waiting, we boarded the plane to Abu Dhabi. It was approximately a 3-hour flight and I think I slept throughout the journey. Ahahahaha. Once we reached the Abu Dhabi airport, around 30 of us gathered for a short briefing by our tour leader so we got to see who we were travelling with. Later on, we mingled around as we waited for our transit flight to Rome! I was excited but mostly tired since it was already past midnight. Several hours after, we boarded the plane.

We arrived at the Rome airport late in the morning and immediately rushed to get onto our bus to Pompeii. We couldn't freshen up because our tour leader told us there was no time to spare. When we reached the entrance though, our bus hadn't arrived and we could have at least used that 5 minutes to wash our sleepy faces and get rid of our morning breath. I remember being slightly grumpy since I was still wearing my glasses and everything.

Anyway, we reached Pompeii at around 1pm, which means... LUNCHTIME! We were guided into a busy and pretty loud restaurant. You could immediately tell that it was a restaurant that served mostly tourist. When I walked into the restaurant, there was even a table stretched out on the left, displaying souvenirs. We walked to where our tables were set and unwrapped ourselves before sitting. We chatted with our fellow tour members that we shared a table with and they were so amiable! Our food came shortly after.. *cue visuals*

The food was okay. I didn't like the dessert, it had a really odd taste. I think the ice cream flavour was cherry/raspberry since it tasted like children's medicine :/

Straight after lunch, we headed out of the restaurant for our tour around Pompeii town! The weather was chilly (loveee), I had to put on my gears aka gloves, wind breaker and beanie. Not forgetting hand warmers that were safely secured in the pockets of my wind breaker.

Walking through Pompeii Town was an amazing experience and I must say, I never really realized it till now. Previously, while I was there, I just took pictures and nodded my head as the local tour guide went on talking. After google-ing the history though, I feel somewhat connected. I don't know how else to explain it but if I could, I would visit Pompeii again. So, anyone who's planning to visit Pompeii soon, I encourage you to do a some research on its history and it'd surely be an eye opening experience for you. Don't lose out like I did!

Tip: Always listen to what your tour guide is saying 'cause you'll never know what new knowledge you're gaining from him/her.

Thus, we've come to the end of my post. I'll blog more on Naples, Capri Island and Sorrento the next time! This post turned out longer that I expected it to be because there's just so much to share! Hopefully I'll be able to finish them in a few parts
